0. How to Improve Your Graphic Design Skills and Find a Community
Ways to improve your graphic design skills
While it varies by field, the kit most commonly used by designers.
Tips for buying a PC/laptop:
The Western (English) version is in the “Spreadsheet.” Check it out now!
If you're attending a design-related school, seek advice from seniors and friends before purchasing.
Knowing computers well is helpful for design work, but it's not essential.
You don't need to know every technical term in detail.
When it comes to computers, the CPU, graphics card, RAM, and SSD are crucial.
If you're unfamiliar with computer specifications,
you can simply purchase a pre-built computer from an
online store that meets the minimum requirements for “ Battlegrounds game”
Therefore, if you're building a PC yourself, refer to this guide

And, when you're attending school, academy, company, etc.,
you'll eventually reach a point where you need to replace your LG Electronics “Gram” or “low-spec laptop.”
At that time, I recommend Apple's “MAC” brand.
Once you buy a MAC, it's worth the money as you can use it for about 10 years.
However, for the MAC brand, you must enroll in “AppleCare”.
You can comfortably work even with four Adobe programs running simultaneously.
(Because Adobe programs are fundamentally optimized for ‘MAC’ rather than “Windows”).
When buying a MacBook, if you don't do video/3D production, the MacBook Air is sufficient.
However, if you do video/3D production, I recommend purchasing the larger-screen MacBook Pro 16-inch.
Also, even if you buy the MacBook Pro 16-inch with all standard specs, it will easily last at least 4 years.
If your budget is tight, consider buying a slightly older MacBook Pro M3 model.
Dell gaming laptops are also good. In terms of monitor color reproduction, Apple and Dell are among the best.
For video work,

use a pen tablets, Pen Display, or paper notebook.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GraphicDesigning/comments/1j7jer3/graphic_designers_of_reddit_do_you_need_to_be/
For mobile, use an iPad mini + iPad Pro 11. also use a Galaxy Tab as a secondary device.
For Pen Display, use Cintiq, Huion, or Xpen (buy any brand).
However, only use Pen Display as secondary monitors.
use the iPad Mini for drawing while on the go.
use the iPad Pro for showing drawings during meetings on-site.
Then, when arrive at the studio, implement the work on the tablet.
But, If you prefer art that can only be achieved through graphics
and don't plan to build solid drawing skills or make drawing your strength,
you don't can drawing skill do it.
Since learning new programs is part of a designer's job,
I pick up Figma, C4D, JavaScript, After Effects, etc., as needed.
To be more specific.
And Google AI offers the highest satisfaction because subscribing to Pro gives you access to the cloud and all Google's AI tools.
ChatGPT is used for various purposes, including image generation, routine tasks, and planning.
Design Work: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, JavaScript, Kling, Higgsfield, Midjourney, ChatGPT, Google One AI Pro.
Photoshop - For graphic design work involving photos, such as color correction, collage, and compositing
Illustrator - For vector graphic design work, such as typography and lettering, or complex shape work
motion graphics : After Effects and Blender, C4D are used.
Upscaling : is typically done using Photoshop's Generative Upscale feature as the default
or
https://junior3d.ru/article/gigapixel-ai.html
by setting it to the Topaz Gigapixel version.
https://github.com/upscayl/upscayl https://free.upscaler.video/
It's free and quite usable.
For details, check the
“Images Upscaler/Enhancer: - IMAGE/ILLUSTRATION ONLINE EDITORS” "VIDEO UPSCALING" tab in the “Spreadsheet”.
figma : It's an excellent tool for creating and collaborating on digital content, not printing.
While it's challenging for intricate graphic work involving pen tools or various effects,
it's great for creating card news or web design using existing sources.
And since multiple people can join and work simultaneously,
it's also widely used for collaboration.
Since there are many books on the figma program, I recommend choosing one and building your foundation from the basics.
While there are many plans, I recommend getting student verification and opting for a paid plan.
But,
Many Figma tutorial videos on YouTube
skip the basics and explain things quickly.
So for Figma beginners
https://en.namu.wiki/w/%ED%94%BC%EA%B7%B8%EB%A7%88%20%ED%8A%9C%ED%84%B0
https://www.instagram.com/figma_lion/
https://en.namu.wiki/w/Madia%20Designer
https://www.youtube.com/@designbase/playlists
recommend these channel/sites.
Figma itself is perfectly sufficient with free tutorials.
As always with Figma, updates are too frequent
and the interface changes often, so the screenshots and Figma itself differ.
For that reason, I also don't recommend Figma-related books.
Once you understand the functions to some extent,
you can learn about layouts and margins by blindly following tutorials.
Figma isn't a difficult tool, so
if you know how to use Adobe programs,
you can start using Figma's basic features right away.
UX-related elements in Figma's features can be learned quickly
by looking up various resources.
If you're studying web design,
try dissecting and collecting 200 websites by layout.
Classify them by background photos / card-style / board-style / tab-style, and so on.
This will teach you far more than just browsing websites.
Take those collected references and start piecing them together wireframe by wireframe, like a jigsaw puzzle.
Then apply a unified design style to every section.
And you can study web grid systems by searching for them on YouTube or similar platforms.
Recommended Korean subscription fonts: 산돌구름, 산돌 내 글자연구소 폰트, 오늘폰트, 직지폰트, 어도비폰트.
(Since subscribing to all of them can be costly, Honestly, just choosing one or two font subscription services is satisfying enough.)

Here's a tip:
Once you install Google Drive Stream for desktop,
you can use it just like any regular local folder.
For backing up your work—like files you're currently working on, reference plans, and so on—
I keep these on Google Drive instead of my computer's local folder.
You only need to upload them to Drive once a month or periodically.
https://freefilesync.org/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRJ8NnUXacY
The UI is pretty ugly, but I'd like to recommend one really great program.
Sometimes cloud backups don't work well when
you haven't turned on a computer connected to the cloud for a while (especially iCloud).
manually back up using the FreeFileSync program instead.
It's incredibly fast because it uses the mirroring feature to copy only changed files.
https://fmhy.net/file-tools#file-sync
Other free file synchronization programs are listed here.
Archiving: Notion, Obsidian
External Hard Drive: Samsung Electronics 4TB
(You are free to choose any brand and capacity, but I personally recommend purchasing a Samsung Electronics External Hard Drive.)
If you work with video or 3D, I recommend getting a 4TB drive.
If 4TB seems excessive,
1TB is suitable for UI/UX graphic design, while 2-3TB is better for video and 3D work.
Also, one thing to be cautious about is.
Why Shouldn't Store Important Data on an SSD
When an SSD fails, it goes down completely at once, leaving no time to back up your data.
An HDD, however, shows warning signs before failing. Even right before it crashes, it gives you time to save your data elsewhere.
While SSDs are more durable and less prone to failure than HDDs,
it's important to understand that being prone to failure is different from failing suddenly.
They are only resistant to physical shock; when they fail, they fail completely.
Therefore, I recommend using two external hard drives or,
if you can afford it, also backing up to cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox.
Actually, NAS drives rarely fail, so you can even buy a used Synology NAS and use it.
Two 14TB drives cost 500,000 won.
Apple : education discount is generally much cheaper than the student store.
When checked to buy, the student store was cheaper at that time,
so bought it there, but usually Apple's education discount is a bit cheaper.
It's best to check the situation each time before purchasing.
It's best to work in silence :
but if you can't concentrate in a completely silent environment,
play any song or vlog video.
When I need to focus intensely, I listen to instrumental jazz or songs without lyrics.
and, strongly encourage you to learn AI (Artificial Intelligence).
https://x.com/jipegalre/status/2019007972379394511

https://blog.naver.com/with_msip/224180101943
But it's important to note that,
South Korea is set to pass legislation regarding copyright notices starting this year.
must be careful.
When including AI-generated work in your portfolio, must indicate its AI origin,
and it's best not to submit it to companies that don't use AI.
In places where I feel comfortable, there's actually nothing to learn.
I must be with people who see things more broadly and deeply than I do
for it to lead to my own growth.
If you feel you can't do it alone,
If you're studying tools on your own,
instead of just watching tutorials on YouTube, try following along yourself.
If the source files provided in older videos can't be downloaded,
try finding similar references and recreating them yourself.
With Adobe Illustrator, it's also good practice to trace over images using the Pen Tool.
You won't master tools just by watching a few tutorials or trying them a couple times.
The key is simply to use them as much as possible.
You need to use them until they feel natural in your hands to become truly proficient.
Try following various tutorials, then apply what you learn to projects you want to create. That's the best way to practice.
If that still doesn't work,
take a design academy course or a portfolio-building program—the shortest one available.
Taking just one course is a good way to develop your sense.
And, if you didn't attend a university, going to a cyber university is also a good option.
However, since only “four-year universities” are prioritized based on the Korean standard, “two-year colleges” are not relevant.
However, even at large companies, the graphic design and designer fields do not consider academic background.
So, considering the situation in Korea
while attending school, After issuing the “내일배움카드,”
get a certification to study the foundational theory and tools first,
then go to a "design academy".
That said, I don't recommend places like "computer academies".
Attending a design academy is good because you have
instructors who serve as your central support and fellow students to work alongside.

Of course, there are also good paid Korean design courses.
https://coloso.co.kr/ https://coloso.jp/ https://coloso.global/en
https://fastcampus.co.kr/ https://sharex.fastcampus.co.kr/
https://class101.net/

If you're just starting out in graphic design,
https://notefolio.net/service/growth https://www.feedbluetiger.co.kr/
lectures from 노트폴리오 강의, 블루타이거, Coloso 강의 were helpful.
These lecture sites have
many lectures by famous designers, and the lecture quality is good.
For example,
you can self-study Blender with Coloso “Instructor 정세윤.”
For private academies specializing in UI/UX,
we recommend 디자인나스, 리메인커리어.
If you're studying while working,
we recommend the 노트폴리오 워크숍 라인.
For online courses,
watch lectures covering graphic design processes and workflows.
However, Korean lecture sites like “Coloso” seem tailored for beginners,
https://blog.naver.com/momteachers_official/223806181277
and if you want more advanced learning, taking paid courses from overseas platforms like Udemy might be better.
And. In fact, expensive design lectures are not very helpful.
To improve your design skills, it is enough to follow designers on Instagram and watch their ig Reels or YouTube shorts.
If you want to improve your design skills, it is best to collect well-made references and imitate practice them.
Therefore, the lectures cover the basics,
and what comes after that depends on your own discretion.
It's also good to find skilled individuals on your own and become their student.
https://x.com/S2uyeon/status/2021245146977927198
After learning tools,
no matter how well you master them, you absolutely cannot design if you haven't seen examples.
Collect UX/UI examples you think are well-done from various sources indiscriminately.
Then capture every screen and categorize them.
(Capture and categorize everything: splash screen, main screen, My Page, cart, checkout screen, etc. For web, categorize by section.)
Next, if there's a web or app you want to create, go ahead and build it.
Additionally, it's good to try recreating various works.
Watch tutorials available on YouTube,
or choose one reference piece to recreate.
Then, using design tools like Photoshop, work on it with the mindset of making it exactly like the reference.

This tutorial may be helpful - How to Finding 2D/3D Graphics Program Shortcut, Hotkeys
https://www.reddit.com/r/AfterEffects/comments/1ilwp5u/i_keep_forgetting_what_i_learn_in_after/
https://www.learnto.day/aftereffects
I keep forgetting what I learn in After Effects—any tips?
For programs like After Effects,
it's not usually something can learn just by watching one tutorial.
then,
simply create a plot, gather references, decide on the effects want to create,
then search YouTube for “how to make ~ effects in After Effects” etc.
Using this method, produce all the cuts.
However, I've never just followed a tutorial video step-by-step.
For example, when studying After Effects.
Most of the motions were tailored to specific graphics or purposes,
so there was no need to replicate them exactly even if they didn't fit the situation or goal.
Instead, consistently used them as references and guides.
Simply implementing the visuals and movements you want to create, like solving a problem, is the fastest way to learn.
For kinetic typography,
start by thinking about how to direct it based on the song you want to work with,
then create the motion as envisioned, using only the necessary features as needed.
Personally, referenced many kinetic typography pieces found interesting purely from a directional planning and design perspective,
and there's no need to replicate the song or video exactly.
After Effects itself has unified many systems with Photoshop and Illustrator
(adjustment layers, FX graphic styles, vector shape layers and groups, stroke properties, etc.)
so if you've done graphic design, you'll adapt quickly. It's simply about making all those property values flow over time.
Instead, since motion is essentially creating animation and video,
you should focus less on references and imitation, and more on consciously observing and learning the physical movement and inertia of objects,
and how other motion graphics express that movement through acceleration, deceleration, and exaggeration.
Most After Effects users tend to rely on intuition for motion design, not because they're particularly talented,
but simply because motion graphics hasn't even existed for 100 years yet, so academic and theoretical foundations are lacking.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MotionDesign/comments/1omhl7x/please_recommend_courses_on_the_basics_of_design/
https://www.jakeinmotion.com/100-new-presets-for-after-effects
This is a collection of ideas related to video animation. The famous “12 Principles of Animation” are naturally included.
Since they rely on the “12 Principles of Animation,” searching for and studying “animation theory” will be helpful.
However, while sites like ‘Booth’ are paid and expensive, which is a shame, you can download them for free as “samples.”
when learning Blender, I'd watch a popular donut-making tutorial video
and then model a microphone on my own, experimenting with nodes in my own style and practicing.
It seems important not to just copy exactly, but to start by watching a tutorial and then modifying it differently.
This applies equally to other 2D/3D graphics programs like After Effects, Cinema 4D, Photoshop, etc.
Therefore, by applying this approach and experimenting by twisting and tweaking things yourself,
you'll learn more about the tools while troubleshooting errors, allowing you to improve your skills faster.
If, you've never done graphic design but started with motion design first,
and while trying to create something, you felt your artwork lacked a foundation,
the truth is that motion graphics
are essentially graphic design with added motion, expanded into video.
Without graphic design, motion design is impossible.
You need to study and practice as many diverse artworks as possible
to understand how different styles are depicted.
However, if you lack an understanding of the Gestalt principles of object arrangement, grid & layout placement,
or the color and contrast used in style frames,
it becomes difficult to discern what makes art styles different and distinctive.
Proficiency in tools handling vectors or bitmaps is also essential.
Designing motion is similar yet distinct from designing graphics,
because it involves using time and speed to create the physical properties, character, spatiality, and narrative of graphics.
While it is clearly a different field from graphic design,
motion design cannot become an independent domain separate from graphics.
If you're starting motion design,
begin lightly with foundational design books like 콘보이 디자인구구단 Design Basics,
and you'll grasp it quickly.
It's also good to try recreating edits from brands or magazines you're interested in.
When recreating web banners, Instagram card news, etc., one by one,
it's crucial to make many attempts, like changing the text content, to make it your own portfolio.
When creating a portfolio.
Taking packaging work as an example,
Should only include packaging in my portfolio?
Or should I include a variety of work like editing and branding alongside packaging?
It, depends on the company
Some companies want everything from editing to branding
while others focus solely on packaging
So check job postings or 블라인드 etc. carefully and build your portfolio accordingly
Graphic design tools improve your skills the more you use them,
so play with them often, like you would with a toy.
If you left the designer profession due to personal circumstances
and wish to study graphic or web design again,
returning to your previous field is the best way to find re-employment.
Developing your existing portfolio > adding personal projects is the easiest approach.
1 Browse recent portfolios on design reference sites like Behance
Country: Select “Your country & abroad,” view by latest
2 Focus on collecting references from portfolios with minimal
(If you start copying the cover, you'll run out of steam when it comes to showing your actual design work)
3 Develop your past work into a modern style
Refine fonts and colors for a more polished look. Update mockups to current styles.
4 Write your cover letter and slowly start applying for jobs.
5 After writing your letter and applying for jobs,
plan and create personal projects.
6 If this process feels difficult, attend a design portfolio academy.
(But I can't recommend specific design academies.)
And as a tip for designers working in a company:
It's perfectly fine to follow old design styles, but when creating new designs, you absolutely must not just pull old references from Pinterest etc.
For example, people often just take layouts from the 60s or outdated designs from the same industry.
But if you start by trying to copy something you saw, it will inevitably become outdated design.
Behance is fundamentally a place for archiving completed work, so for the latest design trends, I recommend focusing on commercial work.
Alternatively, Instagram's algorithm is excellent. Follow one domestic branding agency, then keep following others while browsing the web, and the algorithm will automatically guide you.
If you visit Behance without refining your own aesthetic sense, you'll just keep organizing things that you personally find appealing.
For the latest trends in editorial design, visit the Best of Plakate exhibition, search for film festival posters, or visit sites like Awwwards and browse the latest entries.
But the easiest approach is to look at fashion, IT, and financial commercial graphics frequently used by senior agency professionals.
Next, when studying design on your own
going to a design lectures some good,
it's better to get inspiration by visiting design exhibitions or similar places.
An interesting fact is,
back in the days before Shorts and Reels
by repeatedly creating simple image designs for subjects you like while watching blog tutorials,
both your design sense and tool skills will naturally improve.
It's crucial to join design-related extracurricular activities or clubs at your university,
attend classes as an auditor, and start building offline/real connections early on.
If you can take classes through a minor or auditing, that's the best way to get to know people.
If circumstances don't allow that, joining workshops or external clubs is vital—interacting face-to-face, listening to others, and blending in is extremely important.
Especially in the domestic design scene, it almost entirely revolves around these connections.
If you can't do all of that,
then join side projects or online study groups.
SNS is one-way communication; you only get to say your own words.
If your school has no relevant department, no clubs, and is located in a regional area,
then online study groups are the most realistic option.
For short-term studies during breaks,
I recommend official programs like “노트폴리오” or “기관” over student-run study groups.
If you live in a regional area, I recommend traveling to Seoul for one-day workshops.
If it's a study group run by majors at your own school, that's recommended. But if it's non-majors or something strange, I don't recommend it.
Seeing lots of good designs and analyzing why they work is crucial.
You need to see for yourself how the visual flow works and how the typography's weight is handled.
Personally, for Korean lettering in typography,
I recommend the book “디자이너를 위한 한글 레터링”
In typography, it's more important to
first develop your sense by continuously drawing by hand than just looking at things.
Buy tracing paper and books compiling typography designs,
then sketch them exactly as shown—this is extremely helpful for typography practice.
Download existing free-source fonts
and experiment with transforming them into various shapes in Illustrator (while maintaining readability).
When studying alone, no matter how much you look, there are parts where you just can't figure out why... they did it that way.
There's no helping it when you're on your own.
That's why you should seek out study groups or mini-projects to participate in.
There are plenty of options these days, like "CoffeeChat", so you can fill in the gaps one by one.
Especially
The reason you should actively use "CoffeeChat" is that
job seekers or students who are lost or struggling to find their way need it most
Instead of thinking it's hard to approach strangers
If you shift your mindset to thinking of it as interviewing a senior in your field
I believe it will turn into excitement
Even if you're really introverted and can't speak well
Changing your mindset gives you courage
If meeting in person feels too intimidating or nerve-wracking,
you can also schedule a call (phone, SNS, etc.) instead.
Since this is something you arrange with the person you're coffee chatting with,
and they're taking time out of their schedule even if it's not in person,
you absolutely must prepare your questions and the feedback you want to receive well.
It's a short but precious time, after all.
I recommend CoffeeChats because
they helped me find direction for my wandering portfolio,
and I could ask about the industry's current ecosystem.
These days, many people use Instagram for PR,
so I can target them directly.
Even if you send multiple messages, replies might not come.
You might not get replies even after sending multiple messages.
but, tried reaching out thinking, “Let's see if I can get replies from more than 3 out of 100 people,”
and I got more than that.
If you're feeling lost or have questions, give it a try.
The people who agree to CoffeeChats
are doing so because they find it interesting + commendable,
so there's no need to be intimidated.
There are also classically recommended design books, so finding and reading those is beneficial.
These days, the design industry is undergoing rapid and significant changes in work practices.
It's a time of upheaval, and the mindset of “I'll learn at a design company” no longer works.
Look at a lot of well-selling designs. But don't just copy them outright.
When you follow along, you should observe how they capture this flow,
and how they use color effectively.
You should see how the grid is implemented like this, how the typography's weight is balanced like that,
and how the photo placement directs the eye flow like this.
It means noticing what designs are trending these days.
If you see an effect you wonder how it was made, search for it and try recreating it yourself.
Coding design can feel daunting these days with all the new overseas information and technologies.
Just like there are famous companies everywhere, it actually takes quite some time before you can get into design work.
Don't rush; consistently working and trying is always the priority.
Again, go to trade shows or exhibitions and observe what visitors show particular interest in.
Check out studio work, websites, and social media of major companies in industries you're interested in.
The very act of seeking out design to observe is actually the start of your learning journey. If there are live events, I highly recommend participating.
Design doesn't require certifications for employment,
but if you don't know design tools like Photoshop or Illustrator, you can study for purposes like GTQ.
Just studying through YouTube is more than sufficient.
But, Based on Korea
recommend obtaining "어학자격증"
Some design companies require "어학자격증" as a mandatory entry requirement
https://sy-log.tistory.com/entry/%EC%98%A4%ED%94%BD-1%ED%8A%B8-IH-%ED%9B%84%EA%B8%B0-%EC%8A%A4%ED%81%AC%EB%A6%BD%ED%8A%B8-%EB%AA%A8%EC%9D%8C-%EC%9D%B4%EA%B3%B5%EA%B3%84-%EC%8A%A4%ED%94%BC%ED%82%B9%EA%B3%B5%EB%B6%80-%EC%B2%98%EC%9D%8C%EC%9D%B8-%EC%9D%B8%EA%B0%84%EC%9D%B4-2%EC%A3%BC%EB%8F%85%ED%95%99%ED%95%B4%EC%84%9C-IH%EB%B0%9B%EC%9D%80-%ED%9B%84%EA%B8%B0
For example, recommend obtaining this certification.
Since didn't want to take "TOEIC", it helped me prepare for the "OPIC exam", which focuses on English conversation instead.
Design certifications aren't mandatory,
but recommend studying and obtaining one within a month.
do not recommend the "Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) CC" version.

This shows the preparation process for the "시각디자인산업기사 자격증"
The problem is
the theory can be prepared like taking a theory exam in school,
but the practical exam is the real challenge.
It's difficult to prepare alone, and there are many ambiguous parts.
https://blog.naver.com/pso164/223304312468

And, if you're most troubled by and struggle with adding color, and want to study color theory,
studying for the “컬러리스트 자격증” is a good idea.
To be honest,
even if you get a certification, your portfolio and experience are what matter most.
Getting a certification is mostly for personal satisfaction and is just adding a line to your resume.
(Agencies focused on grant applications or bidding might value it more)
They don't judge pass/fail based on certifications either.
Still, having a certification is better than not having one.
And it's better to have it on your resume than not.
You have a portfolio, you've graduated (assuming you majored in it),
and you know how to use the tools. Certifications aren't strictly necessary, and many people around you don't have them either.
Honestly, certifications really aren't necessary.
It's all about the portfolio.
Portfolios prioritize sense and aesthetic judgment.
Still, certifications can temporarily boost your confidence.
They can help solidify your foundation in tools and other basics.
Actually, entry-level graphic design certifications
don't really matter because if you can create work worthy of a job-ready portfolio,
you can get certified anyway.
The only somewhat meaningful certification is for colorists.
The reason for obtaining certifications is to prove you possess the relevant skills,
but if you majored in design, that major itself is already proof.
However, I strongly recommend obtaining certifications when applying to public institutions or specific companies,
or if you're not a design major.
If you're a non-major,
consider it a minimum requirement given your status as a new.
Additionally, regardless of certification status,
I recommend consistently submitting your resume to various places starting now.
While there's no prejudice against non-majors, in such cases, your portfolio is the most crucial element.
For some reason, government-funded academies,
perhaps their instructors in the field for a long time
sometimes produce portfolios filled with work that seems unlikely to be used in actual practice:
book covers, interior pages, fancy character designs, tacky mockup images, etc.
For non-major newcomers, what they're really looking at isn't the portfolio's polish,
but your potential and possibilities.
So it's better to structure your portfolio well.
Reference work from studios that excel or specialize in the industry
and create a realistic portfolio.
How to Find Graphic Design Communities

Create boards on Pinterest for each field
Create boards for areas you're interested in or enjoy,
like branding/UIUX/graphics/characters, but also include fields you've studied even if you're not currently interested
After creating Pinterest boards, save at least 100 items to each one
Once saved, while your boards are saving on the Pinterest site,
take a look at what active designers in fields you're somewhat interested in are actually working on.
The reason for this is that there's often a difference between design done in practice and what's on Pinterest.
By the time you finish this search, your desired fields will likely be split into several areas.
Now, whenever you have time, try recreating dozens of pieces from each category saved on your board.
This method takes time but significantly improves your skills,
and since you'll find your favorite areas more enjoyable, the time spent figuring out what you like is shortened.
Also,
among the recently completed work posted on Instagram,
be sure to recreate pieces that aren't necessarily your taste.
You also need to practice designs used in real-world work.
and,
If use Pinterest, you can organize collected references
using the Eagle program for initial sorting > then use Figjam spread view feature,
or organize them by category in Notion as you collect them.

Instagram's likes, #tag feature, and algorithm are truly brilliantly designed.
The "Instagram" algorithm, like the "Pinterest" algorithm (likes, Not Interested), requires consistent management.
Since Instagram shares a similar structure to Pinterest,
clicking the ‘Like’ button on desired content
is more effective for comfortably navigating the Instagram algorithm
than repeatedly clicking ‘Not Interested’.
And, set up and use the Instagram algorithm yourself.
For to put it simply,
When you want to tailor Instagram's algorithm for graphic design content
You can shape it to without searching or looking up anything,
just press the like button a few times
and you'll get the algorithm you want
If decent content still doesn't appear in your Explore tab
just visit design-related accounts and like about 10 posts.
Do not create an account for your company or work-related purposes.
Instead, create a new Instagram account
to follow design accounts, read trends, and appreciate content.
By using the “Search” tab or “Reels” tab
and refining the algorithm by selecting ‘Like’ or ‘Not interested’ in this manner, you can curate your feed to show only your desired content each time you refresh.
If you must use a company Gmail, you must create a new account dedicated solely to design.
This is because Google links multiple services to a single ID (e.g., YouTube).
As a result, you will see a lot of beautiful and sophisticated design-related feeds.

When looking for reference materials to check design trends,
a good way to find graphic designers' Instagram accounts
is to follow various magazines and agencies.

How to find a "Discord server" related to design/3D
This is the simple answer you get when you ask a chatbot like Gemini.
https://bind.ie/blog/how-to-find-a-discord-server
To find and join Discord servers related to design/3D,
the most effective methods are using dedicated server listing websites and seeking invitations from design communities or content creators.
Many 3D artists, designers, and related companies host their own Discord servers
- YouTube/TikTok/Social Media: Many content creators provide links to their Discord servers in their video descriptions or social media bios.
This is an excellent way to join a community centered around a specific art style or software (e.g., Blender, Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya). - Software Official Communities: Companies like Autodesk or Poly Haven often have official or community-run Discord servers linked from their websites or forums.
- Educational Platforms: Online art schools or tutorial sites sometimes run their own Discord communities where students and enthusiasts can interact and share work.
Steps to Join a Server
- Have a Discord Account: Ensure you have a free Discord account, accessible via the app or web browser.
- Use an Invitation Link: Once you find a server you like on one of the listing sites or social media, click the provided invitation link.
- Accept the Invite: This will automatically add the server to your list of communities within the Discord interface.
- Follow the Rules: Once in the server, be sure to read and follow the community guidelines.
Many servers have specific channels for showcasing work, asking for help, and general discussion.
This is a collection of design-related
public discord chat rooms I personally find decent or good.
If there is only a site link,
Click the “Discord character” icon on the site.

How to find design resources on "YouTube"
This is the simple answer you get when you ask a chatbot like Gemini.
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/111997?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&sjid=12904322679159095028-NC
https://www.quora.com/Which-are-the-best-websites-YouTube-channels-for-learning-graphic-design-Or-any-other-best-ways
To find design resources effectively on YouTube, use specific search strategies, leverage filters, and follow established design channels.
Effective Search Strategies
- Be Specific with Keywords: Instead of broad terms like "design help," use highly specific keywords related to your project or skill you want to learn.
-
- Examples: Enter specific keywords related to your desired design resources in the YouTube search bar.
-
- https://imgur.com/qewOcrH https://imgur.com/5zXOHUC The “Videos” tab in Google Search can also be a good YouTube search.
Searching in English yields significantly more diverse and abundant resources. (design resources, free templates, UI kit, icons, mockup, After Effects templates free, Premiere Pro templates free, free font)
무료 템플릿, 디자인 소스, 무료 아이콘, 무료 폰트, 유튜브 썸네일 템플릿, 편집 소스 무료, etc.
Specific programs/styles: "logo design tutorial Adobe Illustrator," "UI/UX design principles," "free design assets 2025," "typography tutorial," or "photo manipulation Photoshop, 피그마 UI 키트, 포토샵 템플릿, 미니멀 디자인 소스" etc. Searching with specific styles or program names yields more precise results.
- Use YouTube's Auto-Suggest: Start typing your topic into the YouTube search bar and look at the auto-suggestions. These are based on what real users are searching for, providing valuable keyword ideas.
- Search for Resource Lists: Many designers create videos specifically listing free assets or useful websites. Search for phrases like "best free design resources," "top design websites for assets," or "free graphic design assets".
- Look for Software-Specific Tutorials: If you're working with a particular tool (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, Canva), include the software name in your search query for more relevant results.
- Search for Design Principles/Theory: Don't just look for tutorials; search for design theory, color theory, and compositional techniques to improve your fundamental knowledge.
- Upload Date: To find resources reflecting the latest trends, try using the ‘This Week’ or ‘This Month’ filter.
- Type: Selecting ‘Playlist’ makes it easy to find collections of design resources.
Utilize Filters
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/111997?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&sjid=12904322679159095028-NC
After searching, use the Filters button (usually under the search bar on the results page) to narrow down your results:
Filter by Upload Date: To find the most up-to-date information and resources (especially important for software tutorials that change with updates), filter by "Today," "This week," or "This month".
Follow Reputable Design Channels
Subscribing to established channels ensures a steady stream of quality design education and inspiration
Important Notes
- Copyright Verification: Even for resources found on YouTube, you must always verify the license scope (whether commercial use is permitted, whether source attribution is required, etc.) before using them.
- Safe Downloading: When accessing external sites via links in the video description, exercise caution regarding security and download only from trusted sites.
Go Beyond the Video
- Check the Video Description: Content creators often include links to the specific resources, assets, or websites mentioned in their videos within the description box.
- Read the Comments: The comments section can provide extra tips, alternative resources, and answers to common questions from other designers.
- Join Communities: Many channels have associated Discord servers or Facebook groups where designers share resources and advice.
1. How to Find Korean Paid Graphic Design Resources
Generally, sites commonly used in Korea include
“iClickArt,” etc
but,
‘Shutterstock’ is extremely vast, so many people use it.
The most universally used sites are “Clipart Korea” and “Getty Images.”
“Clipart Korea” is the most frequently used site due to its abundant online and offline sources,
while “Getty Images” is primarily used for photos, illustrations, and icons.
When designing promotions, etc.
Plenty of time and a clear image in mind: Shutterstock
Short on time: Clipart Korea
For reference,
https://mbdrive.gettyimageskorea.com/ and https://www.gettyimagesbank.com/ are from the same company but offer different services.
Here, Getty is https://www.gettyimagesbank.com/
Images from Shutterstock, Getty images, and Adobe stock seem to be good,
but Adobe has a lot of generative images.
Envato elements has a lot of foreign-style graphic sources.
High-quality photos and images for media
https://mbdrive.gettyimageskorea.com/ is the best.
Images including various sources
Shutterstock is better than Adobe Stock.
Shutterstock was created before Adobe Stock, so some of the sources uploaded by content creators to Shutterstock are also uploaded to Adobe Stock. Shutterstock has a much larger cumulative content volume.
Shutterstock is more diverse than Getty Images. This applies to both files and photos.
However, it is more expensive than Getty Images.
Trendy single-item sources suitable for Korea
https://www.gettyimagesbank.com/ and https://www.clipartkorea.co.kr/ are similar.
Pricing
Single image
https://mbdrive.gettyimageskorea.com/ > Shutterstock > Adobe Stock
Media and content sources
Shutterstock > Adobe Stock
Trendy single-item sources tailored to Korea
https://www.clipartkorea.co.kr/ > https://www.gettyimagesbank.com/
freepik is
positioned somewhere between Shutterstock (Adobe Stock) and https://www.clipartkorea.co.kr/
(Based on in-house companies in South Korea)
Abstract concepts for B2B, corporations, and business services = Shutterstock, Adobe Stock
Model-centric for public institutions = https://www.gettyimagesbank.com/ , https://www.clipartkorea.co.kr/
SNS and social media mainstay for B2C services = https://www.gettyimagesbank.com/ , https://www.clipartkorea.co.kr/
Trendy styles from abroad = Freepik
However, there are important points to note when using the “Clipart Korea” site
Clipart Korea
has become overly segmented by license type and fees are increasing,
leading to a rise in cases where only design companies use it and others avoid it.
However, while the quality is good and many assets are localized for Korea,
please be cautious as using it under the wrong subscription plan could lead to penalties.
Clipart Korea
even enforces restrictions on reusing assets like icons from old files
and requires mandatory downloads within the paid month for usage.
However, reviewing Clipart Korea current terms of service
shows they permit usage if you provide download or purchase records.
This applies when working for a design company,
When I inquired about using clipart personally after leaving a company that used it,
the rules for companies and individuals are completely different.
Even modifying files from old projects is prohibited,
so some resort to using other sites or creating assets themselves.
Even with a personal subscription,
using it for a company project instantly changes the purpose, making it subject to copyright enforcement.
This is precisely why you must read the site's terms of service.
Clipart Korea
pricing differs entirely for personal, company, and free use.
Even within company use, prices vary between in-house and outsourced work.
And speaking of fonts,
font companies are the most formidable.
https://rentry.co/h5e9xt8s
Mockup, Fonts Download Tips & tricks!
To further explain.
Paid fonts
If you use a font you haven't paid for, it constitutes copyright infringement.
Typically, companies purchase them,
but if you ask how they find you,
an email is sent directly to you and your company.
Combining fonts for use is also problematic.
You might think converting fonts to images makes copyright enforcement difficult,
but that's ancient history. Better to be cautious.
Interestingly,
don't know Cyrillic (Russian)
but there was also an incident in China where someone freely used
Chinese fonts without copyright awareness and was caught by a Chinese font company.
There's an actual case where a company worked like that,
got a certified letter, and ended up purchasing the font.
After receiving the certified letter, the font you have to buy is likely quite expensive,
and they reportedly force you to buy it as a set.
If you purchased and used it, there wouldn't be an issue,
but they demand to see the purchase date and all the work files.
Since company files are shared,
it's common for people to take work done by others and use it.
If the source seems unclear, you need to be careful.
In such cases, they ask for the name of the designer involved,
or if it's outsourced, they ask for the name of the outsourced designer.
However, it will likely state that you must not modify the font file itself.
In fact, it means you must not tamper with the font software file itself.
You simply must not modify the internal code or change the font name before distribution.
Modifying the shape of the characters is fine.

The reason for this situation

but These days, Chinese designer/CG users increasingly utilize Western (English-language) resources via VPNs.
This is because Western materials and information are overwhelmingly abundant and of superior quality.
Then, Looking for Chinese design/3D CG resource sites?
try this!
Search for these words on google.com.
Note: Use https://www.deepl.com/translator to translate English to Simplified Chinese for searching!

How to Access NamuWiki from Overseas/via VPN
- Turn off your VPN
https://namu.wiki/w/%EC%97%85%EC%8A%A4%EC%BC%80%EC%9D%BC%EB%A7%81 - Add “en” before the address in the URL bar: https://
(This simple method switches to the English wiki just by changing the address bar)
https://en.namu.wiki/w/%EC%97%85%EC%8A%A4%EC%BC%80%EC%9D%BC%EB%A7%81 - Set your VPN country to Australia or New Zealand
(This method works exceptionally well when accessing Chinese sites while your VPN is active)
Personally,
recommend using Google Chrome as your main browser and Brave (with built-in Tor) as a secondary browser.
For VPN, choose one of Surfshark, Mullvad, Nord, or Proton VPN.
From https://www.publicdns.xyz/ and https://fmhy.net/storage#free-dns-resolvers
I believe the DNS addresses “8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 1.0.0.1 1.1.1.1” are the most suitable.
In other words.
If are using a VPN
When searching Chinese sites, either set your country to Australia or New Zealand
or stop using your VPN before searching Chinese sites.
in China, when using websites or downloading content,
site registration (via phone number or email address) is required. Please register with caution regarding security.
If you are a member of Chinese social media services like QQ, Weibo, or WeChat, registration is very straightforward.
