PASH! November Issue — Slam Days Interview Translation

No Free, No Life

"I thought it was kinda nice that the three of us were fighting together."

Shizuru is in charge of the cleaning and laundry at home!?

Interviewer: —"How do you all spend your time at home since you live together?"

Shizuru: To put it simply, it's 'freedom.' Suits us well, don'tcha think?

Rui: Don’t act so cocky, you freeloader.

Lance: Our leader is usually busy playing games. Shizuru sometimes has a serious look on his face when he’s composing music in his room, but most of the time he ends up hanging out at his usual bar.

Shizuru: I don’t know why, but I feel more relaxed when everyone is around, it sets a great vibe for drinking. [1]

Lance: As for me… I usually work in my room or read some books when I’m at home.

Rui: Or, you’re usually making pizza.

Lance: Speaking of pizza, our leader often gets lured out of his room when he smells that it’s almost done being baked, especially after pulling an all-nighter. He eats quietly, but he always manages to finish a good amount of it, which makes me happy because that means he enjoys it.

Rui: Stop talking about unnecessary stuff.

Shizuru: Huh? You’d better invite me when you’re having a pizza party.

Rui: You’re always out drinking all the time.

Shizuru: Point taken. But that made me realize that Lance is the only one who actually uses our kitchen. Rui, Q, and I mostly just order takeout, pour hot water, or use the microwave.

Lance: I’m kinda worried about everyone’s nutrition balance.

Rui: And what about you? What do you eat besides pizza...? Plus, if Q goes and does something stupid and gets hurt, you'll be affected too. Sucks for you.

Lance: Even if it's to annoy me, I believe that Q wouldn't go as far as to harm himself just for a prank…

Shizuru: Then how about we have either Lance or Rui prepare a balanced meal? It doesn’t have to be homemade.

Rui: No.

Lance: I think I’ll pass on that too. After all, we tried splitting the housework before, and it didn’t exactly go well, did it?

Rui: …Yeah, that thing only lasted for a minute.

Shizuru: Wasn’t Rui in charge of the cleaning, Lance and Q for the laundry, whilst I took care of cooking and taking out the trash?

Lance: I thought you gave us tasks that suited us but…

Rui: The cleaning robot got its wires all tangled up, and I can’t tell if the sensors are acting up, but it keeps knocking over bottles on the floor. And then there’s Q, who always leaves the laundry in a complete mess…

Shizuru: I can't make it back in time to take out the trash when I go out drinking. Also, have I been the only one doing the cleaning and laundry lately?

Rui: You look like you have a lot of free time anyway.

Interviewer: —“Look back at your past activities (as a Kamen Rider), what was the most memorable for you?”

Lance: It’s been a while since I started working as a Kamen Rider. I’d say the most memorable recent event for me was meeting the 5th generation Riders and the Agent.

Shizuru: Hahaha, it’s really nice to see the younger ones giving it their all, isn’t it?

Lance: I didn’t spend much time as a student at the Academy, so having juniors feels kinda new to me. By the way, you two have been active in Nijigao City longer than I have, right? A lot must have happened, but is there anything that has stuck with you recently?

Rui: I’ve been running into someone lately whom I never wanted to see again.

Lance: Are you talking about Libal? Chaosism has started making their moves again lately…

Rui: That means we’re also making progress in retrieving Chaostones, which is great for us. It looks like we have a better chance of recovering our memories.

Shizuru: Speaking of Libal, we all entered a game-like Chaos World together!

Rui: Ah, you mean the “Mission Stadium”?

Shizuru: Yeah, I thought FPS was pretty tough while we were inside the Chaos World, but looking back at it now, I thought it was kinda nice that the three of us were fighting together.

Rui: All you did was hold us back, didn’t you? Using a Piko Piko Hammer as your FPS weapon is ridiculous. [2]

Shizuru: I wasn’t the one who picked it, so there’s nothing I could do about it. But you know, the cat-like gloves and the Piko Piko Hammer actually suited me pretty well…

Lance: Fufu, I really enjoyed that gun action too. I’ve never won against Rui in a game, but using that weapon made me feel like I might have a shot. [3]

Rui: Oh, then how about we have a 1v1 next time? I already know how it’ll turn out though.

”For this autumn, I want to make the most of our hobbies ♪ ”

Interviewer: —”Since we’re in Autumn now… What have you all done during this season? Or what would you like to do?”

Rui: Play Games.

Shizuru: For Rui, who’s a shut-in all year round, the seasons probably don’t matter... but there’s got to be something, right? Like, 'The days are getting shorter, aren’t theyy?'

Rui: Beats me. No matter the season, everytime I wake up it’s already dark outside.

Lance: The summer this year was so unbearable that I hardly stepped outside. Now that it’s finally gotten cooler, I’ve switched out my clothes.

Shizuru: Oh, I think I saw Q the other day being excited about buying a lot of autumn clothes. He looked really happy, saying he got a ton of clothes with pockets.

Lance: I see, so that's why there were so many clothes I hadn’t seen before... It’s great that I don’t have to worry about finding something to wear, but having too many that won’t fit in my closet would be a problem.

Shizuru: Oh, that sounds nice, I kinda wanna buy some autumn clothes too.

Rui: You should pay me back for what you spent on my card first.

Shizuru: Ugh... I completely forgot about that. It was that impulsive purchase I made the other day when I was drunk.

Lance: Did you go shopping again while you were drunk? I think you should really fix that habit…

Rui: As if saying that would change anything then he wouldn't be in this situation right now... Maybe I should just smash all the alcohol at home.

Shizuru: I’m sorry, I’m reflecting on my actions. So please don’t do that…

Lance: Um, I think we should go back on topic… Speaking of which, there’s often phrases like ‘Autumn is for ___’ that’s often used. I think being able to enjoy and find what makes the four seasons so charming is one of the wonderful cultures of this country.

Rui: ‘Autumn is for gaming’... Since there’s an upcoming event, I need to start saving up on some gems.

Lance: Oh, so your seasons are related to game events, huh? For me, I think it’s ‘Autumn is for reading’. Mystery novels fit perfectly with those long autumn nights. [4]

Shizuru: If I had to choose... It would be “Autumn of appetite”. There's a fantastic lineup of autumn-exclusive sweets to order. There’s plenty of alcohol available too.

Rui: Oh right, I was going to complain about that. I'm the one stuck here receiving all your packages.

Shizuru: Well, thanks to someone who doesn’t leave the house, we didn’t need a delivery box.

Lance: Shizuru… You didn’t pay for that using leader's card, did you?

Shizuru: …Hey now, I’ve been doing my fair share of cleaning and doing laundry! Plus I'm sharing the stuff I buy with you guys too!

Rui: Ugh, these guys are so unbelievable…

Translation Note:

[1] originally Shizuru said お酒飲むには良いBGMになってるんだよ which means that it creates a good BGM for drinking but I felt it’d be stiff? So I went with how I think Shizuru would say it.
[2] I already covered this during CLAN, it translated to “toy hammer” but I kept it as Pico Pico Hammer.
[3] pun intended lol he said 勝機が見えた which doesn’t mean that far.
[4] It’s a pretty common saying that Autumn is the season for reading (読書の秋) It came from a Chinese poem that said reading by a lamplight as the days grow shorter and the nights longer.
