WHAT IS AN IMAGE ID?
an image id is a description of an image - in the mogaiblr community, it's typically a flag description. the image id should be placed either in the alt text or under the flags themselves, but never under the cut. considering how often those in the community deactivate, it's not smart to place your image id under the cut because once you do deactivate, that text is no longer accessible.
HOW SHOULD I WRITE MY IMAGE ID?
if it's not in the alt text, it should be written as:
• [ID: text. END ID.]
• [id: text. end id.]
• ID: text. END ID.
• id: text. end id.
if it's in the alt text, screen readers will already indicate that it is an image & read it out beforehand as well as indicating when it has ended. note that the alt text may not work properly sometimes due to tumblr's fickleness.
DO MY DIVIDERS NEED IDS?
that depends! some people believe that they should be ided, while others disagree due to it not providing any useful information. it's really just if you want to or believe that it may have any important information to the person viewing the post.
HOW DO I ID MY FLAGS?
a flag id should include:
• number of stripes
• colors - can be formatted either listing out every individual color or as a gradient
• any symbols
• any weirdly patterned or shaped stripes
everything is made up of shapes, so if you're unsure how to describe something? look at the shapes it's made up of!
