system roles + terms / types of plurality

TYPES OF PLURALITY

DID

the most known type of plurality. DID systems have amnesia barriers, or divisions between headmates and alters that block some, if not all, memory sharing, usually to protect others from trauma. amnesia barriers occasionally affect communication. this sometimes results in an amnesiac system.

OSDD-1

OSDD-1 systems lack some of the diagnostic criteria for DID, while still having alters. the most common kinds of OSDD-1 are O.S.D.D-1a and OSDD-1b, which are both missing the distinct alters and amnesia barriers, although OSDD-1 can have both. OSDD-1 can also have different stages of life of the body as alters, aswell as DID.

OSDD-1a

OSDD-1a is missing the distinct alters found in DID, thus preventing a diagnosis. alters are often more blurry than DID systems, and usually have a "shell" or "core" (although this is now an outdated term.) the identities within an OSDD-1a system may be diverse or very similar, or an in between of the two; a common example of this is different "modes", or ages, between alters.

OSDD-1b

OSDD-1b is missing the amnesia found in DID, therefore preventing a diagnosis. there is no full amnesia, otherwise known as "blackouts", related to switching, but emotional amnesia may be present, as well as "grey outs". there may be memory loss relating to trauma, but there is none relating to alters.

UDD

UDD is diagnosed when a dissociative disorder is present, but the individual does not meet the criteria for any dissociative disorder.

DDNOS

Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified is a general unused diagnosis that was given to systems who didnt meet the criteria for DID.
