adding a background
!! YOU CAN SKIP THIS STEP !! but your pony might look different in game. colors can appear quite different depending on the surroundings in which they are viewed. which is why I advise you to add a background :-)
adding a background is crucial to know how your tinted pony will look on a certain background;
in our case it is grass, path, water, et cetera.
here is a list of hexcodes you can use:
spring & summer
grass: 7cca92, path: f7db9d, water: 6dbfee
autumn
grass: ddcf71, path: eed39f
winter
snow: e5eefb, path: cdd6e9, water(ice): c1dcec
for the sake of this tutorial, i will use grass
adding a background is crucial to know how your tinted pony will look on a certain background;
which is why we will start by:
a) creating an empty layer,
b) dragging it below our main image;
you can drag your image by clicking on it!,
if you don't see the layers panel, make sure it is turnt on!
c) now use drawing tool,
d) go to colour picker;
MAKE sure the colour you're using is #7cca92, or any other hex code you'd like to use.
e) adjust your brushes settings; softness and size;
brush settings are located on the top bar, look at the gif if you're struggling to find it.
f) now colour the empty layer in!
tinting
now for the main point of this rentry — tinting.
its simple;
a) go to filter,
b) click effect library,
c) choose any effects you want, as many times as you want.
if you want to enchance the look;
a) right click on the layer you just tinted,
b) use blend modes,
c) adjust opacity!
the end
after you're done with tinting, screenshot or save your image.
go to colour picker and colour pick your image :-p
keep up in mind that after colour picking your skin won't end up looking identical to the tint.
just remember to adjust the skin to your liking.
